Market Entry

RSM supports both large and small organizations in understanding the business, operational and security risks associated with operating within a new region. Our team draws together a range of expertise to provide a rounded review of risks and solutions. Below is a small example of some of the support we have provided:

Example: RSM was engaged by large management services organization to review the business risk factors associated with operating within Iran, Lebanon, Syria and Iraq.  RSM researchers and advisors drew together information relating to what other western commercial groups operated within the regions (2-3 cities per country), where expatriates typically had offices and lived and what security and governmental restrictions existed. Our advisors had 72hrs to draw together a comprehensive report to support a large private equity firm in determining whether to invest in these new regions.

Example: RSM were engaged to support a major oil field services company with entering Iraq to seek our multiple large bids with oil and gas majors. RSM arranged security and life support and accompanied the business and security leadership in country, coordinating meetings with both vendors and clients. We supported the visa and administrative processes and then designed a market entry strategy including business, logistics, administrative and security recommendations. Our presentation was provided to the executive team as part of their strategic decision making process. We continued to work with Business leaders in the United States to support market entry planning and requirements.

Example: RSM was requested to support a large NGO with market entry planning into Afghanistan as a subcontractor to a prime to USAID. Our team offered insights and guidance to executive leadership and reviewed the policies, plans and protocols of the prime. We coordinated a meeting to address security and safety issues and wrote a detailed meeting agenda, reviewing materials and strategies to ensure our client’s interests were met.

Example: RSM were requested to provide advice to an NGO seeking to enter Pakistan to run educational and capacity building programs within multiple cities and regions – within a high risk setting. Our advisors worked with the business team to define areas of potential concern as well as solutions to enable safe and productive educational programs to be run. Advisory areas included housing, staff safety handouts, organizational risk management policies and protocols, living areas, transportation options and emergency response requirements. RSM also supported the organization in locating viable in-country vendors for a range of services.
