Program Business Risk Management

Risk and Strategic Management, Corp. (RSM) has significant experience in managing both small and large programs within challenged and remote environments. Our managers are equipped with a series of policies and protocols to allow them to quickly mobilize and start operations with fewer delays than experienced in most projects. Below is a sample of a few of the projects we have managed.

Example: RSM provides a country wide security management platform for a major USAID funded initiative operating in Pakistan. Our project team provides security escorts, drivers, guards, cooks, cleaners and liaison officers to support complex and fluid operations throughout the country. RSM reviews facilities, conducts background checks, advises on equipment and armored vehicle procurements and operates in close partnership with both the program management team and the client home office, employing over 95 staff throughout the country.

Example: The emerging markets division within a lead management organization supporting USAID initiatives on several long term contracts within Sudan sole sourced to RSM the provision of a Program Security and Operations Manager to support the expansion of secure and well planned operations throughout Sudan. Working closely with the program team the manager supported planning and organization of new business, as well as developing effective policies and plans to support business. Training local staff in security awareness, medical skills and safe driving practices, he networked with local agencies to leverage external resources for the enhancement of the company’s operations.

Example: Following the catastrophic earthquake in Haiti RSM were engaged to provide a Business Risk Manager to work with the program team in terms of protecting the safety and wellbeing of staff, while also enhancing the ability for the program to perform in post disaster conditions. Our manager was so effective a 3 month contracted was extended into a multi-year contract with the Business Risk Manager supporting program design and implementation planning with client leadership.

Example: As part of a significant communications project in Iraq RSM was requested to place a security operations manager located in Baghdad to oversea operations in Basra, Erbil and Baghdad. This involved managing three concurrent but individual business programs. The RSM operations manager implemented a plan that ensured that resources were shared amongst the three business projects, these shared costs reduced the programs overhead costs whilst maximizing resources. The operations manager was responsible for the running and managing of the Tactical Operation Command center (TOC) which tracked all vehicular movements and provided redundant communications systems to support field operations. He was also responsible for collation, interpreting and dissemination of intelligence briefings and trend analysis to project teams as well as the two PSD Security companies providing the armed protection teams. The input and implementation of directives by the operations manager added to the success of the project and was one of the factors that allowed the client to conduct over 1,700 vehicular movements in an 18 month period in both a safe and efficient manner without a single serious incident.
